OL announces its decision for Rayan Cherki

Relegated to Ligue 2 as a precautionary measure, OL will have to sell to convince the DNCG to leave it in Ligue 1 at the end of the current season. Rayan Cherki, associated with several major European clubs, including PSG, would thus be likely to have a change of scenery this winter. Pierre Sage, the coach, took stock of the situation of his young attacking midfielder.

Mercato OL: Pierre Sage sets the course for Rayan Cherki and Malick Fofana

Forced by sanctions from the National Management Control Department (DNCG), which force it to sell to balance its accounts, Olympique Lyonnais could part ways with two of its most promising young talents: Rayan Cherki (21 years old, 12 goals) and Malick Fofana (19 years old, 5 goals). Asked about the future of his two protégés, Pierre Sage was optimistic, but left doubts lingering.

“Are they going to stay this winter? I think so,” said the Gones coach at the microphone of DAZN after the draw against Stade de (1-1) on Saturday evening. “Am I sure?” I’m sure I think so,” added Pierre Sage with an enigmatic smile. This ambiguous response suggests the complexity of the situation and the difficult choices that await Lyon's leaders in the coming weeks. Especially since both players are in high demand on the transfer market, especially Rayan Cherki.

Rayan Cherki panics Europe

If Saint-Germain could well return to the charge this winter after the failure of its attempt last summer, Rayan Cherki is also of interest to other major European clubs. In England, Liverpool and Newcastle United would be ready to go on the offensive to attract the OL player as soon as the January transfer window opens.

In Italy, Juventus Turin and SSC Naples would also be thinking of Cherki to strengthen themselves in the second part of the season. According to sources close to the matter, John Textor, the president of OL, could be convinced by an offer of 30 million euros for the French international hopeful.

Even if the current trend suggests that Alexandre Lacazette's partner could stay in Lyon until next summer, when a transfer would be more possible. It remains to be seen what will happen in the coming weeks.
