In difficulty to ensure its maintenance in Ligue 1, AS Saint-Étienne is preparing to readjust its squad during the winter transfer window.
The Saint-Etienne club, currently in the fight for survival, has identified six undesirable players, several of whom are reaching the end of their contracts. Among them, Anthony Briançon, Thomas Monconduit and Lamine Fomba should be pushed out. Although transfer compensation is limited, management prefers to avoid a free departure next summer.
Objective: reduce the payroll and strengthen
In addition to players at the end of their contract, such as Mathieu Cafaro and Florian Tardieu, ASSE also wishes to reduce its payroll. Midfielder Florian Tardieu, with only five appearances in Ligue 1, is also leaving. Finally, Igor Miladinovic, who arrived this summer from Serbia, could be loaned after disappointing performances. These departures would allow ASSE to free up financial space for future reinforcements. The club hopes to recruit more experienced players to strengthen its squad and guarantee its continued existence in the elite of French football.
