UEFA attacks OL's finances!

Clearly, the financial subject is tense in … According to information from the Team, UEFA is closely monitoring OL's finances, worried about its economic situation. According to the ICFC, the clubs' financial control body, an audit procedure has been launched. Experts went to Lyon this week, notably attending the Women's Champions League match against AS Roma (4-1). Laurent Prudhomme, general director of OL, says: “We are working with UEFA services as part of an audit procedure. » At the club, we link this increased attention to the arrival of John Textor as new owner and the project to reduce the payroll for 2024-2025.

Possible sanctions?

OL's accounts were not certified by the auditors, who judged that they lacked conclusive evidence to validate the continuity of operations. These difficulties led, on November 15, to a decision by the DNCG demoting OL to Ligue 2 as a precautionary measure, prohibiting recruitment and regulating the payroll. The club's debt reaches €505.1 million, and Textor's financial guarantees are considered insufficient. UEFA is monitoring this development “closely” and could impose sanctions if the situation does not improve. Among the measures envisaged are fines, points deductions, ban on recruitment in Europe, and even exclusion from competitions. For the moment, no decision has been taken, but the Rhone club remains under close surveillance.
