Kévin Denkey towards the American dream

No worries, LOSC will have time to work before finding the successor of Jonathan David. Olivier Létang assured this Wednesday evening that the Canadian would remain a Mastiff at least until next summer, closing the door to a winter departure and therefore the need to find a replacement quickly. Trail open for many months already, the one leading to Kevin Denkey closed. The 23-year-old Togolese striker, who has scored 39 goals since the summer of 2023 with Cercle Bruges, has officially signed with Cincinnati in MLS against a check for 16 million euros.

The former Nîmes player will arrive at the opening of the 2025 winter transfer window as a “designated player”, a status awarded to the best players from MLS clubs. “ It was an obvious decision for me.assures the main interested party on the site of his future club. I felt that the club really wanted me and that I could really help the team. I just had a good feeling, which makes sense to all of us. Cincinnati presented the project to me, and it’s a big project. I came here, I saw a match, the stadium, the facilities, I saw everything. And I said, “This is incredible.” I wanted to take a step forward in my career and I think Cincinnati is the right place. »

General manager Chris Albright is no less satisfied with this choice: “CHe is a talented young center forward, with an incredible personality. Kevin has been one of the most prolific strikers in Europe over the past two years, displaying impressive athleticism, finishing quality and work ethic. This is a historic transfer for our club and our championship “. And one less track for Olivier Létang and his teams.
