Third in the hierarchy of French goalkeepers, Lucas Chevalier experienced his first international break with the French team. It should not be his last for Benoît Trémoulinas, who imagines a bright future for him in the Blues.
It has been several years since LOSC has been in the cages, a position in which the big names have been playing, most recently Grégory Wimbée, Mickaël Landreau, Vincent Enyeama, Mike Maignan and Lucas Chevalier. The latter also follows in the footsteps of his elder, predecessor and mentor, whom he found in the French team during the international break in November. A keen observer of European football, Benoît Trémoulinas recently welcomed his presence with the Blues, believing that his first call-up was the right reward for increasing progress.
“Lucas Chevalier was already having a very good season last season, but there were still small errors here and there. There, it’s true that he is evolving at an incredible level. He made saves like Thibaut Courtoishe judged thus.
It's totally logical that he was called up to the French team. I am even convinced that he is better than Brice Samba currently, but that is only my opinion”explained Benoît Trémoulinas, former player of the Girondins de Bordeaux, AS Saint-Etienne and Sevilla FC, on the set of
Greg's Team.
The former French international, five caps with the Blues, wishes to show patience with Lucas Chevalier, whom he nevertheless sees overcoming obstacles one by one in the years to come, until becoming the number 1 goalkeeper in the team of France: “We can start the match for the number 1 place, if you want, but Mike Maignan has a head start. What is also true is that Lucas Chevalier has this little thing. I have a lot of people around me who tell me that this goalie has something, and that in a few years, or even a few months, he can start to tickle him. The luck he may have is that Mike Maignan is not that young and he has a problem: he often gets injured. For me, Lucas Chevalier is number 2 and in the future…”he finally concluded.
