The CAN 2025 qualifiers have finally delivered their verdict. So when will the draw for the groups for the final phase take place, scheduled for Morocco from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026?
The 24 qualified for CAN 2025 are already known. All eyes are now on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the date of the draw for the groups for the final phase.
The date of the CAN 2025 draw
At the time of writing, no draw date has been announced by the Pan-African body. This 35th edition is somewhat special because more than a year still separates the end of the qualifiers from the final phase.
For comparison, the last 2023 edition (played in 2024) was held three months after the final whistle of the qualifying phase. In 2022, on the other hand, there was also more gap between the qualifiers and the final phase and the draw took place in August 2021, approximately six months before the final phase. Will it be the same for this edition?
The hats of the draw
Concerning the probable hats, the title holder, the Ivory Coastand the host country, the Moroccowill inherit that of the top seeds (hat 1). The other 22 qualifiers will likely be distributed based on their position at the last FIFA ranking to be published before the print run. If the CAF maintains the same pattern as in previous editions, the first groups will not a priori have an advantage.
