An arrival in despite the sanctions?

Club de invites you to follow the news of OM's competitors (PSG, Monaco, , , LOSC, , etc.). Olympique Lyonnais is going through a difficult period financially. Last Friday, the DNCG (National Directorate of Management Control) imposed a severe sanction on the club, prohibiting it from recruiting during the winter transfer window and strictly regulating its payroll. Worse still, a precautionary relegation was pronounced, jeopardizing the club's future in Ligue 1. However, despite these restrictions, a key transfer could well materialize: that of Thiago Almada.

The transfer of Thiago Almadaattacking midfielder Botafogo and Argentinian international, seemed already sealed before the DNCG hit OL. Lyon and Botafogo are both linked to the company John Textorowner of both clubs. An agreement was therefore reached several months ago, well before the activation of financial sanctions. According to The Teameven under the constraint of the new financial rules, Almada should join Lyon in January.

Thiago Almada: reinforcement provided

At 23, Almada could be a valuable recruit for an OL in difficulty. Its versatile profile and good performance Botafogo make him a sought-after player. The arrival of Thiago Almada would be all the more beneficial as several departures are expected this winter, notably that of Rayan Cherki. Despite his long contract with Botafogo (until 2029) and his satisfaction in Brazil, the Argentinian could nevertheless be seduced by the opportunity to join Europe and Lyon, a club in reconstruction with European ambitions.

A transfer window under pressure

Despite the financial sanctions of the DNCGOL hopes to complete the arrival ofAlmadawhich could constitute an essential reinforcement to stabilize the Lyon attack and compensate for the departures. It remains to be seen whether the young player will agree to leave a Botafogo where he is happy to join a club still in the process of restructuring. Time is running out for Lyon, who must succeed in negotiating this arrival in a very tense transfer window.
