Came into play: Toty, Charros, Mansouri, Bagelli.
Summary of the meeting
First of all, earlier in the day, OGC Nice and Saint-Priest, the two pursuers of ASSE played. They both lost, giving the players of the Le Moal-Fauvey duo the opportunity to gain a gap on the pursuers. Indeed, Saint Priest lost in the principality against Monaco (1-0) while Nice lost to Grenoble (2-0).
Saint-Etienne’s intentions are muddled and imprecise. The Greens very quickly give the impression that they are not having a great day. They nevertheless obtain a penalty which Daniel Epanya takes charge of taking. Unfortunately, the powerful striker shoots over and therefore misses the opportunity to open the score. A situation which confirms the difficulty of this meeting and the very average performance of the players of the day.
The locals will in turn obtain a penalty. Olympique de Valencia, in bad shape, sees the opportunity to take the advantage in this meeting. Alexis Colombet pulls out all the stops and prevents the Drôme from scoring the 1-0 goal. The match will no longer evolve and will therefore remain with this scoreless draw. The U17s take a point and do not take full advantage of the poor performances of their competitors in the race for the play-off.
Next week, the U17s will host Sporting Club de Bastia for the last match of the first leg. The Corsicans are having a good championship and will be a tough team that we will have to successfully maneuver to finish the first leg brilliantly.
