A former ASSE player warns of a scourge

Vincent Pajot spoke for Dauphiné Libéré. The former Stéphanois gives one of his choices for his football career, that of staying away from social networks. Excerpts taken from his diary of November 7.

“I was impacted when I was at Saint-Etienne” (Pajot on social networks and football)

“I'm going to sound like an old fart but, for me, it's a bit of the scourge of society. Everything is idealized, you can have a lousy life but make it seem extraordinary. I was impacted when I was at Saint-Etienne, at the time when I had a Twitter account, with people who harass you I don't like the proximity that it creates, to be accessible at any time. There are no worries. when I'm at football to go watch partners, take photos with the children. I'm the first happy to talk. But when I pass the stadium gate, I leave football behind. It's like I'm bringing problems home. goes well, the ego is very flattered When things go less well…

I've known players who spent all their time on their phone when things were going well, but when things were bad, the phone was in the hold of the bus. It also makes me wonder about harassment, I imagine what my children might experience. I only have LinkedIn, I find it interesting. For the rest, the thing, I experienced it, I analyzed it, I turned the question in all directions and the conclusion I made was that it wasted my time and It's not in my character. Everyone is teasing me, I don't even know the model of my phone. With my wife, we watch very little television, we mostly read books and pay attention to the screens for the children. We realize that we sleep better after reading than after watching .

It's difficult when you've played in front of 40,000 people, you've had a crappy match and you're all alone at home with your phone…”

I saw players, truly great football players, being impacted by that. You tell yourself that if even them, it does something to them, it's hot. It's difficult when you played in front of 40,000 people, you had a crappy match and you find yourself all alone at home with your phone… You see 90 notifications and you say to yourself “out of curiosity, I'm watching hoping that at least one guy would say that I was good'' but you only read insults (laughs). Even if they are insulted for nothing, the person will be affected. It remains human. I quickly realized that it wasn’t for me.”
