These are exceptional things to experience. That's what I told the players: it's still a different match. The proof is that we played on a Sunday evening, it is of interest beyond of the region. It interests a lot of people in the world of football. So it was a chance to play this derby here. I experienced it with intensity, with happiness. And then to have played it with Saint-Etienne, it’s magnificent. »
Dylan Batubinsika (ASSE defender): “It’s a derby, without our supporters, away. For most of us, it was the first time we played this derby. We knew how important it was for our supporters. We knew we had to be careful. I think we arrived cautiously. And afterward, we unleashed our confidence a little during the match. »
“We don’t like to have regrets in a derby”
Léo Pétrot (ASSE defender): “For many it was a first derby. So it may seem surprising that there are so many people over the last few days. There were a lot of speeches, there were a lot of exchanges with the supporters. And we are very happy that they support us like that. We were disappointed that they couldn't come tonight. But we knew they would be behind us, behind the TVs. So there you have it, we are very disappointed for them too this evening. »
Did the players not understand the event? “I think that with everything that happened this week, with the supporters, with all the speeches we were able to make, I think everyone was aware of the importance of this match. Afterwards, we are disappointed, we are frustrated because there was room and obviously we don't like to have regrets in a derby. »
