“I had no one except my PlayStation”, the poignant revelation of a football star

A former Red Devil looks back on his time at Manchester United and the reasons for his departure.

Today at West Ham after a transfer this summer, Aaron Wan-Bissaka leaves behind an eventful adventure at Manchester United. However, the story started well for the English right-back.

Arriving at the Red Devils at the age of 21 from Crystal Palace during the summer of 2019, he quickly established himself as a starter on the right flank of the Mancunian defense. The former Eagles player had reached an important milestone, but not without sacrifices, as he confided in an interview with
Standard.

“It was difficult, very difficult. I went (to Manchester, editor's note) by myself and it was the first time I left the house. I had no one there except my PlayStation”says the 26-year-old, before continuing: “As Manchester is a smaller city, everyone knows everything that’s going on. You have to be mentally strong to avoid the negative things that come with it. »

“It was the right time”

However, over the seasons, the London native saw his playing time melt away like snow in the sun under the orders of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, then Erik Ten Hag. After five seasons at Old Trafford and 190 games, 2 goals and 12 assists, Wan-Bissaka finally decided to turn the page with the most successful club in the Premier League.

“I spoke to the club and they thought this opportunity was the best for me. They gave me time to think about it. At the time I didn't think about it, but I talked to my family and friends and we all decided it was the right time.”he confides.
