[Anciens] Laurent Nicollin: “I also had a hard time with the departure of Andy Delort”

In the latest issue of the After magazine (October/November), we can find an interview with Laurent Nicollin conducted by Daniel Riolo. If on paper the confrontation seemed attractive, in reality the result is relatively disappointing. But the president still settles some scores.

“I was disappointed on a human level when Rolland abandoned us like shit, in December 2015. We had gone through complicated seasons, I had been one of the few to always support him. Everyone said we shouldn't keep him. I was convinced it was going to start again. Things turned around, things were better, and now he leaves us in the transfer window. It wasn't his departure that disappointed me, it was the way he left. I prefer that we sit around a table and talk. Say you want to leave because you want to experience something else, but don't make excuses. And above all, don’t say that you’re not leaving to coach another club, when 3 weeks later you’re on the bench.”

I also had a hard time with the departure of Andy Delort. I would have preferred that when we resumed, he would have come to see me. Everything can be heard, everything can be listened to. But his timing was bad. I told him so. Both of them were important people for the club, leaders. Two people with whom, on a human level, I got along well. I was disappointed, but not surprised. Human beings are like that. If he can fuck you, he'll fuck you. My wife blames me for it, but it's my way of thinking. I'm not a humanist, I'm not an open person, I'm turned towards my family and the people I love. I don’t trust people, I always have the fear of getting screwed.”
