While it is already having a difficult start to the season, the reserve team will have to cope without its attacker for the next rounds.
Enzo Mayilla will not play again with ASSE this year
The ASSE reserve team is struggling at the start of the season. With 5 points in 7 matches, the young Greens are currently in 13th place, synonymous with relegation to Regional 1. The only improvement was the victory in the derby (1-0, goal from Othman), in a controlled match from A to Z. After the 1-3 defeat against the Clermont Foot reserve on the last day, coach Razik Nedder was frustrated: “Sometimes we have no excuses. We didn't have a good match. The individual performances were all below what we are capable of doing. We were lacking rhythm, it's a logical result. We certainly had opportunities, especially at the start of the match, but we conceded too many things. When we aspire to play in L1 one day in a club like ours, we have to be more rigorous.”
This match against Clermont will in any case have been Enzo Mayilla's last for several weeks. Starting last Sunday, the Saint-Etienne striker underwent surgery this week, according to his Instagram story. After wearing a knee bandage for a long time, the player born in 2006 ended up undergoing an operation. The exact nature of the injury is not known, but it is believed to be ligament related. Mayilla will in any case not play again in 2024 and should miss a few months of competition.
This injury represents a hard blow for Nedder, who will therefore have to do without his attacker, certainly much less impactful than last season, for the next games. Jibril Othman, the only sure value at National 3 level in this position, should garner more playing time.
