PSG: 3 billion pocketed, thanks Qatar

Since the arrival of QSI at Saint-Germain, the Parisian club has moved into a new sporting but also economic dimension. A CDES study demonstrates PSG’s commitment to the Île-de- region.

It's no secret that Paris Saint-Germain has no longer been the same club since the arrival of Qatar Sports Investments in 2011. The capital's club is now the benchmark team in France, whether sportingly or economically. Moreover, PSG commissioned a study from the Center for Sports Law and Economics (CDES) which demonstrates the power and influence that Paris Saint-Germain now represents throughout the Île-de-France region. France. Indeed, since Qatar took power, PSG has paid three billion euros to the State thanks to taxes, social and employer contributions from the club. This figure also amounted to 371 million euros for the 2023/2024 season, an increase of 44% compared to the last figures published in 2018/2019. This represents around 7.4% of the region's budget, reports Le Parisien.

PSG, a real financial power in Europe

Another theme studied in this study which was renamed “A Club serving its territory”the international dimension that Paris has taken on. The CDES is also unanimous on this subject. PSG has become an international sports franchise, with an estimated turnover of 806 million euros last season, the third best European club in this area. PSG's main value-creating activity remains the organization of sporting events (which brings in nearly €75 million for the club), which has the consequence of generating numerous jobs (in total, more than 2,300 full-time jobs, including 746 direct jobs). On its social networks, Paris Saint-Germain was delighted with the figures obtained in recent months: “With €243 million in added value and €371 million in social and tax contributions for the 2023/2024 season, PSG has established itself as a local pillar and a key player in the Ile-de-France economy,” can we read on X. So, it is not only on the field that PSG is successful. The Île-de-France region is becoming more and more dependent on the club's actions.
