Roberto De Zerbi sets the record straight on the controversy with Jean-Pierre Papin
Roberto De Zerbi took his press conference to clarify his position on rumors of conflict between the leaders of Marseille Olympic. The Italian technician spoke to the press before the trip from Marseille to Nantes in Ligue 1.
It was already a frustrating week for De Zerbi and OM. The Olympians were dominated in last week's Classico against PSG (0-3).
Afterwards, De Zerbi's press conference was tense, when he admitted that his team lacked “passion” and “intensity”. The week has apparently become more tense for Marseille: A story that involves Jean-Pierre Papin.
Rumors in the press surrounded a possible breakup between the club and the Marseille legend, who is the club's reserve coach.
Roberto DeZerbi has made no secret of his exasperation over speculation regarding his relationship with The priest. “I wanted to clarify an important point. These discussions are completely false, completely fabricated.”
“I have a good relationship with Jean-Pierre Papin. Our training schedules are different, so we don’t see each other often, but I respect him.”
“He has a great history with this club, and he’s been here a lot longer than I have.”
By Zerbi was visibly affected by these rumors. He responded in his own way habitual passionate
“You should know that I respect everyonee, not just Jean-Pierre Papin.”
“I respect every member of the club, down to the gardener. It's shocking to learn such things. I am respectful to the press, but there is a limit.”
“As a person, I did nothing to deserve to find myself at the heart of these controversies.”
OM hope to return to victory this weekend by traveling to the Beaujoire stadium on Sunday evening (8:45 p.m. CET).
