The new nugget of River Plate soon at PSG?

After investing in Beraldo, Moscardo and more recently Pacho, PSG continues to expand into the South American sector. The profile of a small phenomenon from River Plate, in Argentina, seems to have found favor in the eyes of Luis Enrique…

PSG seems ready to do anything to afford a new nugget of Argentine football: Franco Mastantuono, attacking midfielder from River Plate. The 17-year-old player, already highly coveted by several major European clubs, could well pack his bags for in January. A transfer which is already agitating behind the scenes of the transfer window.

Franco Mastantuono, a priority target for PSG?

With his remarkable performances at just 17 years old, Franco Mastantuono has become an essential name in Argentina. A left-handed attacking midfielder, capable of playing both as a number 10 and on one side, he is seen as one of the greatest talents of his generation. Last February, he became the youngest scorer in River Plate’s history, at just 16 years old, confirming his immense potential. PSG has been closely monitoring the player for several months and could take action as early as the winter transfer window. According to PSGInside_Actu, which first revealed the information, and Renzo Pantich, a well-informed Argentine journalist, the Parisian club would be ready to lift its release clause set at 45 million euros. For Paris, it would be a question of securing the nugget in January and letting him continue to progress in Argentina until he turns 18, which he will celebrate in the summer of 2025. But Paris is not alone in this. Real Madrid, often on the lookout for young South American talents, would also be very interested. AC Milan and Manchester City are also monitoring the situation. However, PSG, with Luis Campos leading the charge, appear determined not to let this opportunity slip away.

A complicated operation, but possible

If PSG seems ready to put its hand in the wallet, nothing has been done yet. River Plate has no intention of letting go of its prodigy easily, especially with the Club World Cup on the horizon in 2025. Plus, as TyC Sports revealed, if an offer comes in just 10 days away the closure of the transfer market, Mastantuono’s release clause will increase from 45 million to 50 million euros, making the operation even more expensive. For PSG, the challenge is clear: ensure the arrival of this future star in January, who could well embody the club’s future in midfield. With his technical qualities and his vision of the game, Mastantuono has everything to integrate into the Parisian project under the orders of Luis Enrique. But fierce competition from other European clubs and River Plate’s attachment to its young player make the task difficult.
