Gazidis and Kilmer Sport give clues for the future!

The American media Sport Bussness Journal revealed the words of Ivan Gazidis and Teresa Resch (inaugural president of the WNBA Toronto franchise) this week. They discuss in particular the latest actions of the Kilmer Sport group but also its intentions and projections on the group’s latest projects such as AS Saint-Etienne. Excerpts.

“Thinking long term does not mean ignoring urgency” (Ivan Gazidis)

After buying the club last June, Kilmer Sport and its team are developing a new project at AS Saint-Etienne. Led by international recruitment focused on DATA, the new owners’ start was sluggish. Nevertheless, the latest results have brought some calm and credit to the project.

“Thinking long-term does not mean ignoring urgency in sport or sports business,” Gazidis said during a panel at Leader’s Week in London. “If you don’t act with urgency, you will quickly be overwhelmed. That’s why we have a strong sense of urgency in everything we do. This does not contradict a long-term approach, and this also applies to our investments. We want to seize the right opportunities, where we think we can add value, but we will not act hastily. »

Kilmer wants to continue growing!

Even though they have a start-up mentality, Resch believes that the entire Kilmer Sports portfolio and employees can create synergies and solutions tailored to its franchises, even if they operate in different sports. “I know I can count on Huss Fahmy, Kilmer Sports Ventures’ executive vice president for football, as well as Ivan, when we want to take on initiatives that look different in the WNBA,” Resch said. “We lean on each other for ideas. I am in the process of recruiting a leader for the team, a general manager. We want to think a little differently, but these people already have a lot of experience, and certain practices apply to different sports markets. It is therefore essential to take advantage of their expertise. »
