Eyraud’s big comeback didn’t go far

After his departure from Olympique de in February 2021, Jacques-Henri Eyraud tried to make his return to French football. The former Marseille president surrounded himself with American investors to buy FC. But his application was not accepted.

We almost saw Jacques-Henri Eyraud again. Very bad memory for supporters of Olympique de Marseille, the former president of the Marseille club was disembarked in February 2021, under enormous pressure from the Vélodrome faithful. Cohabitation between the two parties had become impossible. Which did not prevent Jacques-Henri d’Eyraud from considering a big return to French football. According to information from the economic magazine Challenges, the entrepreneur was the representative of two American investors wishing to buy Paris FC.

Eyraud missed his shot

The enemy of Olympian fans tried to do it again after the successful coup alongside Frank McCourt at Olympique de Marseille in 2016. But this time, his approach ended in failure. The candidacy of his collaborators was not accepted. It is indeed the Arnault family, owner of the LVMH group, and Red Bull who will become the new owners of the Ligue 2 resident. Given the passage and especially the bad reputation of Jacques-Henri Eyraud in the Marseille city, the supporters of the Ile-de- club won’t complain about it. Especially since the duo soon to be in charge has the means to build an ambitious long-term project.

The LVMH and Red Bull groups, whose new football director is none other than Jürgen Klopp, aim to install Paris FC in Ligue 1. Before considering qualification for the Champions League. In order to achieve this, the buyers would have planned an envelope of between 100 and 200 million euros to develop their project during the first years. Apparently, their plan was considered more credible than the file presented by Jacques-Henri Eyraud.
