PSG: His return is impossible, Real lets go of Hakimi

Cani Carvajal’s injury leaves Real Madrid in urgent need of recruiting a right back. A return of Achraf Hakimi has been mentioned, but PSG does not intend to open the door to the departure of its Moroccan side.

Victim of a triple knee injury on Saturday against Villarreal, Dani Carvajal is not ready to play again. The 2024 European champion will be absent between 10 months and a year, a huge blow for Carlo Ancelotti, who made him his captain this season. In this position, the Italian technician finds himself deprived and will have to tinker with Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Lucas Vasquez. But for the first time in six years, Real Madrid is considering recruiting in the winter transfer window, because injuries are increasing in the Spanish capital and reinforcements are essential.

At the right-back position, the name of Achraf Hakimi was mentioned internally at Real Madrid, as revealed at the start of the week by journalist Eduardo Inda (read here). A return of the Moroccan defender to Real would please Carlo Ancelotti and has been validated by the club’s management, but this idea will quickly be thrown in the trash. And for good reason, the Spanish media The Soccer Player advances this Wednesday that Real Madrid is aware that a transfer of Achraf Hakimi is almost impossible for a very simple reason: Saint-Germain is not a seller when it comes to the Moroccan international.

Hakimi at Real, PSG closes the door

The Merengue club tested the waters, in the event that PSG opened the door a year and a half from the end of Achraf Hakimi’s contract, but the response from the Parisian leaders was clear. The Moroccan is Luis Enrique’s vice-captain behind Marquinhos and should be a long-term player in the French capital. And as proof, its lease which currently runs until 2026 could be extended by Christmas. For Real Madrid, who are also courting Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), we will therefore definitely have to forget Achraf Hakimi.

Because despite the unanimity that the Parisian defender provokes within the Madrid club, this return is not possible for a moment in the minds of Luis Enrique and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. This is enough to reassure Parisian supporters who, in any case, did not want to believe for a moment that their club would open the door to the departure of the former Borussia Dortmund player.
