Depay leaving Brazil for some crazy reason?

In the past, free agents have often been in a strong position to negotiate a new contract with a large team, because they offered clubs the opportunity to recruit without spending a transfer fee. But since this summer, the situation has changed, and many big names have had to lower their ambitions. Adrien Rabiot, for example, joined Olympique de Marseille when Memphis Depay, although author of an attractive Euro with the Netherlands, even had to leave Europe to join Brazil by signing up with the Corinthians at the beginning of the month of September.

But after only a few weeks in South America, and four meager appearances in all competitions (for two assists), the adventure could come to an end, for extra-sporting reasons. To sign on the other side of the Atlantic, the Corinthians ratified a big contract which allows the Batavian to receive 11.2 million euros. However, this sum is largely paid by Esportes da Sorte, a betting company and sponsor of the club. But as the daily explains ASthe latter is not present on the list of authorized betting companies. She is therefore likely to have to put an end to this agreement, and a new way would therefore have to be found to pay Depay’s XXL salary. Between that, and the pressure from supporters accusing him of not being invested enough, the adventure risks being cut short.
