Philippe Diallo’s reaction to the Mbappé imbroglio

Absent from the French team list but starting for Real Madrid’s last match, Kylian Mbappé is at the center of heated debates. On Info, Philippe Diallo, the president of the FFF, refuses to overwhelm the captain of the Blues. But he still notes “a pressure exerted by the clubs on their players”.

This is the soap opera of the start of the Blues rally. Not selected by Didier Deschamps for the two Nations League matches, Thursday against Israel (8:45 p.m.) and Monday October 14 against Belgium (8:45 p.m.), Kylian Mbappé nevertheless started with Real Madrid on Saturday in La Liga.

This situation angered Blues supporters, extremely disappointed to see their captain skipping matches even though he is fit. “There is nothing above the French team and the national selections,” declared Philippe Diallo, president of the French Football Federation (FFF), at the microphone of France Info. “Didier (Deschamps) had spoken with him directly and with the Real Madrid medical staff and he decided not to select him, which does not call into question Kylian’s attachment to the France team.”

Clubs “less favorable to letting their players leave for selection”

Philippe Diallo refuses to overwhelm the Madrid striker and instead points to the overloaded schedules. “The national selections cannot have the minimum portion of an increasingly insane international calendar. The question that is asked is that today, in an insane calendar, with multiple competitions, the ‘top players’ are at a rate of 65 matches per year”, explains the boss of the FFF. “We are reaching a sort of ceiling where it is necessary for the clubs, the national teams, the authorities, to sit around a table.”

“There is pressure exerted by the clubs on their players,” notes the boss of the FFF. “We could multiply the examples where clubs which have great ambitions with great players, at a moment, are certainly less favorable to letting their players go to the national team”, deplores Philippe Diallo, who underlines that Vinicius “will not go no longer play with his Brazilian team.

In the entourage of the Blues, as detailed on Saturday by RMC Sport, we recall that the non-summoning of Kylian Mbappé by Didier Deschamps was done in dialogue. Thursday, the coach and his captain had a discussion during which the Madrilenian explained that he did not feel completely fit. The player then confided to Didier Deschamps that he preferred to skip his turn for this rally to fully get back on his feet, which the coach perfectly accepted.
