16 goals in two matches, Saran’s flying start in Regional 1

Relegated to Regional 1 after a heavy penalty, USM Saran got off to a flying start with 16 goals scored in two matches.

8-1. This is the result of the first two Regional 1 matches of USM Saran. Chambray FC and J3S Amilly are the first two victims of the club from the crown of Orléans. And yet, the end of last season had been nightmarish with a withdrawal of eight points in the standings of group H of National 3 while the team was already maintained. Arriving at the end of January, the ex-professional player Ibréhima Coulibaly had been noted as “free” on the license application while he had a license in a Mauritanian club the previous season, FC Nouadhibou. Coach Fabien Croze had even thrown in the towel before the end of the season, scalded by his club’s administrative error.

Four and a half months later, the smile has returned to USM Saran. At the beginning of July, a complete restructuring was carried out with the appointment of Benoît Lonceint as president. Former president Dominique Amico was appointed deputy president. And Alain Marseille – former LFP delegate – arrived to oversee the administrative division. Deputy mayor of Orléans in charge of sports, Thomas Renault became general manager of the club. Finally, Cédric De Carvalho (J3S Amilly) became coach of the flagship team.

“There was an element of injustice last seasonexplains the new president of USM Saran. This penalty was very heavy. We digested this situation and made it a strength for the project that we are carrying out with many entrepreneurs. It allowed us to structure the club. We are laying down milestones in order to work in a construction dynamic. We know that we will be expected in all the matches but that’s the game (smile). »

A new project for 2024-2029 has been set up with the ambition of eventually reaching National 2. This project also provides for the promotion to the national level of the U17 and U19 youth teams. With major reinforcements such as Charly Pereira-Lage (Saint-Priest), Arnold Abelinti (Alès), Aboubacar Camara (Saint-Pryvé Saint-Hilaire) or Laurent Amiens (Flers), USM Saran is therefore not hiding its ambitions. And Saint-Pryvé Saint-Hilaire, leader of group B of National 2, is warned in the fourth round of the Coupe de France!
