It’s official, Bruno Irles is the new coach of the Girondins de Bordeaux. Holder of a Deug MPM in mathematics, the former professional player of AS Monaco has had his football trainer diploma since 2010, and his BEPF (Professional Football Coach Diploma) since 2016. He has signed up for the next two seasons, with an optional year in the event of promotion.
A success in terms of climbs
His first coaching experience was in National 1, at Pau FC. It ended with a promotion to Ligue 2. This was a historic promotion with one of the last three budgets in the championship. In July 2020, he joined Quevilly Rouen Métropole, with the same success. Indeed, QRM moved up to Ligue 2 with a squad built from scratch. In January 2022, he kept ESTAC in Ligue 1. This was also a historic promotion, with a final 13th place in the first division, and the fifth attack when the adventure ends, in November 2022. Finally, he had a short experience from February 2024 to March 2024, at Racing White Daring Malenbeek, which was a failure, for various reasons, but especially because of the instability of the club.
The choice of the heart, the will to achieve it
As you can see, Bruno Irles fits perfectly with the profile sought for the Girondins de Bordeaux to bounce back. The coach has obviously made financial efforts because today the FCGB is no longer professional. But more than by money, his choice went towards the Girondins in relation to the challenge (colossal but exciting), but also by affect. Indeed, he is a native of Rochefort, a city located in the department of Charente-Maritime and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
