Barça finds itself facing a real logistical headache a few months before the Clásico of the 35th day of La Liga against Real Madrid, scheduled for May 10 or 11, 2025. While the Spotify Camp Nou is in full renovation and the agreement with the city of Barcelona for the use of the Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc ends in April, the Catalan club could find itself without a stadium to host one of the most anticipated matches of the season. Worse still, several events such as the Rolling Stones concerts, scheduled for May in Montjuïc, further complicate local options. Joan Laporta and the management of Barça assure that the work at Camp Nou will be completed in time to host the match, but contingency plans, in the event of delay, are beginning to emerge, as revealed by the daily Sport.
The Vélodrome, the Chaudron or the Groupama?
Among the solutions considered, one hypothesis is gaining momentum: the relocation of the Clásico to France, to cities like Lyon, Marseille or Saint-Étienne, whose modern stadiums could accommodate between 42,000 and 67,000 spectators. This solution would make it possible to maintain a certain geographical proximity for supporters while meeting the massive demand for tickets. However, the club could also transform this problem into an economic opportunity by organizing the clash in London, Miami or even Saudi Arabia, thus offering international influence to the match, at the cost of depriving the Catalan socios of their flagship meeting. While uncertainty persists, this delicate issue puts Laporta's management under pressure, between sporting, logistical and financial imperatives.
