Medhi Benatia, director of Football at OM and Olivier Létang, president of LOSC, were suspended by the FFF disciplinary committee following their actions during the 16th Coupe de France final (1-1, 3-4 in the tab).
It was about ten days ago. LOSC went to Marseille to bravely defend its chance in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France. On the pitch at the Orange Vélodrome, the Mastiffs led the way before being caught at the end of added time, but still managed to emerge victorious at the end of the penalty shootout (1-1 , 3-4 on tab). However, this January 14, it is not so much the result that hit the headlines, but rather the scenes of tension that occurred on the sidelines at the end of the match.
Medhi Benatia had received a red card from Clément Turpin, for having vehemently criticized the fourth referee that a penalty had not been whistled in favor of the Marseillais, then trailing by one goal, on a contentious action. For his part, Olivier Letang had grabbed the arm of the fourth referee closest to the pitch to tell him that added time had been exceeded.
The two men, whose case was studied this Thursday by the federal disciplinary commission of the French Football Federation (FFF), have, according to The Teambeen suspended as a precautionary measure. The president of LOSC “will be received soon and will know the duration of his suspension”adds the sports daily, which specifies that this also concerns his position on the board of directors of the Professional Football League (LFP).
