Marius Trésor, Thierrywas present at the inauguration of the stadium in his father's name, in Sainte-Anne in Guadeloupe. He spoke about what his father, former defender of the Girondins de Bordeaux, represents, even if the main person concerned is not always aware of it.
“He doesn’t necessarily realize it, but he’s considered a legend. He was the first black West Indian captain of the France team, the first to have broken Roger Marche's selection record. And then as a player and as a man, he was always accessible, remarkably humble and that's what people remember about my father. So I’m not at all surprised by this enthusiasm around him.”

“When Variétés decided to organize this match with the support of Marius Trésor, everyone responded, quite simply because of what it was able to represent.
