The central defender, under contract with Barça until 2026, is not part of coach Hansi Flick's priority plans, but Barça is reluctant to part with him. Discussions have taken place and are expected to resume in the coming days, but economic differences are holding back an agreement. Quique Cárcel, sporting director of Girona, expressed on DAZN his desire to recruit Garcia, who had already shone on loan at the club last season with 31 starts. However, he acknowledged that Barca's demands could make the operation unfeasible. In the summer, Girona had already tried to bring him in without success.
The options of a loan or transfer are on the table, but the amount envisaged by Girona, around 10 million euros, is considered insufficient by Barça, especially since Flick is opposed to a departure. Although the player is in favor of a return to Montilivi, the current conditions make the matter delicate.
