Arriving mid-season, Opta had fun predicting the final ranking in Ligue 1. A prediction in which OL should finish 5th in the championship.
The defeat last weekend against Brest Stadium once again proved that OL had problems to resolve. Indeed, the Lyonnais did not know how to set up their game as they would have wanted against the Brestois. From a defensive point of view, Pierre's men Sage completely missed out on their match. Once again, theOlympic Lyon missed a great opportunity to get closer and even get on the podium. However, we must not forget that theOL had a pretty good first part of the season. Currently, the Lyonnais are ranked sixth in Ligue 1, just four points off the podium.
A European future whatever happens?
And mid-season, choose released its predictions on the final ranking of Ligue 1. Without any surprise, the PSG is most likely to win the title based on this prediction. For its part, theOL doesn't even have a slight chance of getting the title. However, it would be very surprising not to see Peter's men Sage in Europe next season. Indeed, at mid-season, the Rhone club has the highest chance (22.1%) of finding itself 5th in the ranking at the end of the season. But theOL also has great possibilities of finishing in 6th (20.4%) and 4e position (16.8%). All that remains is to hope that this time, the statistics are real, even if the objective remains the Champions League and not the Europa League or the Europa Conference League.
