For his first transfer window in Rennes last summer, Frederic Massara was not very inspired. The sporting director of the Rouge et Noir notes that the players recruited are not satisfactory. Some will even leave this winter. Not sure that the Italian will resist this fiasco.
The opening of a loft and especially its composition say a lot about Frederic Massara's situation in Rennes. Among the elements deemed undesirable are two of the 11 recruits brought in by the sporting director last summer. We find in particular Albert Gronbaek and Glen Kamara whose transfers cost 15 and 10 million euros respectively. Add to this the 7 million euros spent on striker Henrik Meister, already on loan with an option to buy at Pisa (Serie B), and we obtain a total of 32 million euros wasted by the manager appointed in last June. Stade Rennais therefore wasted no time.
From the start of the winter transfer window, the arrivals of Seko Fofana and Brice Samba clearly showed that president Arnaud Pouille, former general manager of Racing Club de Lens, had taken control of recruitment. There was no question of letting Frederic Massara sink after his first transfer window at 80 million euros, and mainly carried out with the Italian agent Gabriele Giuffrida. According to the newspaper L'Equipe, even if he has clearly lost influence internally, the manager who worked for Udinese, Roma and AC Milan is still participating in the decisions of the Breton club this winter. But its future is more than uncertain.
-Pouille pushes Massara
In the columns of Ouest-France on Friday, Arnaud Pouille did not seek to defend him. “ Frederic is aware of his participation in certain decisions which have not been the happiest since last Juneadmitted the Rennes president. He's not in denial. It's like with the players: let's stick together, be aware of our mistakes and try to make amends in the transfer window with profiles more in line with the club's DNA. » Suffice to say that Frederic Massara is not sure of staying until the next transfer window.
