-The Puy-de-Dôme firefighters were called during the night from Friday to Saturday January 18, around 12:30 a.m. They intervened on the fire in a two-story apartment in the city center of Issoire, in Puy-de-Dôme. For a reason still unknown, the fire started in an apartment on Rue du Palais, not far from the town hall. According to the gendarmes, a 39-year-old man, tenant on the 2nd floor, died in the fire. According to firefighters, the victim was extracted from the fire dead. Two other people, unharmed, were evacuated and relocated.
No less than 28 firefighters intervened to fight this fire: they came from Issoire, Coudes and Cournon-d'Auvergne. The fire was brought under control around 2:30 a.m. The fire caused a lot of smoke, according to police. Commander Renaud Garcin, squadron leader of the Issoire gendarmerie company, indicates: “Regarding the causes of the fire, nothing has been established at the moment. The building is placed under seal. Observations will be made this morning with the help of a team of firefighters to research the causes of the fire.”. The Issoire gendarmerie brigade, with the support of the Issoire research brigade, is in charge of the investigation.
