“Beugre uses his body well to protect the ball”
Jonathan d'Agostino in the Talk on WebGirondins: “I managed to see two matches of this player. It's difficult because he's only started once this season. Last year was pretty much the same. This is a large profile. Étienne Beugre is rather impressive on the pitch, because he is still quite square. But, he is a little more mobile and faster than Andy Carroll. At the same time, he is only 24 years old. He is a player who is still quite young.
He is often used as a fixation point, as he uses his body well to protect the ball. He has a good heading game. His goals are mostly scored with headers. On the other hand, he has difficulty continuing his actions after making a pass. When he is far from the goal, he has difficulty supporting behind. He seems to be a little clumsy with the ball. His support sometimes challenges me. This reminds me of the heyday of Cheick Diabaté and especially Aliou Badji. I saw situations that challenged me a little. Afterwards, he is able to play with one touch. As soon as he plays simple, he’s interesting.”
“He is very nonchalant”
He continues: “On the other hand, as soon as he is stopped or tries to dribble, it is very complicated for him. He shouldn't get into that game. It’s a day that takes on depth. Complementarity with Caroll in this sense, why not. On the other hand, he does not have the profile of a goalscorer. In 32 matches he scored 5 goals in Maribor.
He has only started 4 times this season. He hasn't played since the end of October. What bothers me about this player is that in the defensive phase, he walks. He makes very little effort. He is very nonchalant. Since he doesn't make an effort to stand out, even when his team has the ball, he isn't necessarily found.”
