As you know, in football clubs, there are negotiations at all levels every season. We regularly talk about players and managers since they are the ones who make the main news on a daily basis and during the summer and winter transfer periods. But there are also internal negotiations on the decisions to be made, club policy, rights, stadium rent as is the case in
Girondins de Bordeauxand in particular the naming. Besides the one with Matmut will stop in the coming months and the subject risks quickly finding itself on the table.
Another subject that will be discussed and not the least, the equipment supplier contract with the brand Adidas. Sud Ouest informed us that the latter ends in June 2025. It is not only a question of jerseys but also of the distribution and management of the stores. It was signed in 2020, when Frédéric Longupée was the president of the club. To date, discussions are well underway with the brand as well as a competitor. This contract would notably differ depending on the level at which the
Girondins de Bordeaux.
As a reminder, last summer was a little “stormy” when Full Acewhich manages the Girondins stores, had announced the selling price of the season's jerseys, at the price of €90 while the club is in National 2. Its president Patrick Laportewas explained on France Bleu Gironde.
“I understand the criticism from supporters (on the price). However, normally, the price set by Adidas is 100 euros. So it’s a price that we negotiated with Adidas to lower it by 10 euros given the context. These jerseys are high-end Adidas jerseys, which correspond to the high level of European clubs. The Girondins are one of the top Adidas clubs. We understand the situation, we say to ourselves that it's expensive, but they are the same jerseys, the same styles, the same type of manufacturing as the jerseys of the big clubs equipped by Adidas. And we must normally follow the same pricing logic.”
