Stade Rennais – OM: penalties cause scandal

During the match between Olympique de and (2-1) this Saturday, the refereeing once again sparked controversy, notably due to two controversial penalty decisions.

Referee Abdelatif Kherradji designated the penalty spot twice after consulting the VAR. The first, for an involuntary hand from Amir Murillo, OM full-back, which seemed to have no impact on the game.

An inconsistency difficult to explain

The second situation concerned a similar hand, this time from Rennes midfielder Jordan James, after a free kick from Pierre-Emile Højbjerg. Although the VAR recommended that Kherradji review the footage, he reversed his decision, but without a clear explanation. This inconsistency between the two actions created a wave of confusion on social networks, where many fans expressed their incomprehension regarding these refereeing choices.
