Masterful performance from OL in the Gambardella Cup. The young Lyonnais defeated Sochaux away with a score of 4-1.
Winner of the Gambardella Cup in 2022, OL would like to have a good run this year, at the heart of a very mixed season for the U19s. For its 32nd final this Sunday, Samy’s group bags had a hard time facing the leader of Pool B, Sochaux. Although the latter played with a different squad compared to the championship, this trip was not easy for Les Gones.
Strengthened by the presence of Alejandro Gomes Rodríguezpositioned at number 10, and Enzo A leechright winger, they started the meeting on the right end. Winning all the duels, stifling the Sochaliens, they found the fault in the 4th minute. Gomes Rodríguez, found by Nadhir Senouci in depth, perfectly negotiated his face-to-face (0-1, 4th). Dominant, Olympique Lyonnais hit the nail on the head in the 38th minute through Nehemie Luricawell served by Molebe with the decisive pass.
Himbert delivers the OL
This rewarded a very good first period from Rhone, who did not leave much to their opponent, apart from a mix-up from a corner (33rd). After the break, the Doubist club finally woke up, reducing the gap in the 51st minute by the son of a certain Pierre-Alain Frau to revive the suspense of this poster. A very solid performance which allows this team to reach the round of 16. The next round will be played on Sunday February 2, with a draw scheduled for Thursday January 16. In the meantime, the Lyonnais will have to show a similar face in order to get back into the championship (8th). From Sunday January 19, they will be eagerly awaited, with the reception of… FCSM for the revenge against the leader.
