Stade de is pleased to announce the signing of Hiroki Sekine, 22-year-old Japanese right-back, who joins the club from Kashiwa Reysol. Hiroki thus becomes the third Japanese player to wear the Reims colors.

Born in Shizuoka, Japan, Hiroki Sekine developed his talent in clubs in his region before making his professional debut with Kashiwa Reysol, Junya Ito’s training club. After a first full season in the J1 League in 2023, where he played 30 matches, Sekine established himself as a key element of the team, in particular thanks to his defensive solidity and his ability to project forward.

On the international scene, Hiroki Sekine has proven himself with Japan’s U23 team, notably contributing to victory in the U23 Asian Cup in 2024 and winning a silver medal at the 2022 Asian Games. He is also a no stranger to international competitions, having competed in the 2024 Olympics. He was recently called up to join Japan’s national A team, although he has yet to register an official selection in due to the lack of playing time in matches.

His tactical background and defensive techniques will make him a valuable asset in our system. His physique and ability to defend in the emergency situations are perfectly suited to the demands of Ligue 1. In addition, he has very good foot quality for ball release and construction, while being effective in his crosses in the last 30 meters.”
