After trying different sports, Thibault turned to a career as an amateur footballer. When making a choice between becoming a professional footballer and a journalist, the qualities tipped the scales to one side. Despite the rivalry between OM and PSG, this does not prevent certain players from playing for one club then another. The latest example is that of Adrien Rabiot. Long before the French international, Georges Weah had done the same. Having left Paris in 1995, the Liberian joined Marseille in 2000, without bothering him more than that.
Trained in PSGwhere he then revealed himself at the highest level, Adrien Rabiot was not hampered by his Parisian past to join OM last summer. Ignoring the criticism coming from his ex-supporters, the French international thus set down his bags at Marseille. Rabiot took the path traced by others before him, starting with Georges Weah.
“I’m coming for you”
Player of PSG from 1992 to 1995, Georges Weah then played Milan AChas Chelsea et Manchester City. But in 2000, the Liberian decided to disembarkABOUT. Pour France Football, Weah explains about this transfer: “ Marcel Dib, a great friend from my Monaco years, who became sporting director of OM, called me: “George, your career is over, and is it difficult for Marseille? We need help.” I told him: “Marcel, I’m coming for you” ».
Weah and the PSG-OM rivalry
Relaunched then on the rivalry between the PSG and theOM, Georges Weah replied: “ I don’t play for that. I scored five goals, including a double against Monaco (2-1), I provided an assist to win against PSG (1-0), and we held on ».
