Metz recruits a Senegalese star from the U17 World Cup (official)

FC announced the recruitment of a Senegalese revelation from the last 2023 U17 World Cup.

While he could lose Aboubacar Lô, currently courted by Mechelen, Servette Genève and SC Bragaagainst compensation before the end of his contract next June, FC Metz enlisted Idrissa Gueye, another Senegalese from Génération Foot de Dakar, a partner club of Grenats.

Definitively back on his feet after a fracture contracted at the end of last season, the young striker has signed up with the Lorraine club for five seasons, i.e. until June 2029, his new employer made official in a press release. He will wear number 18.

“At 18 years old, Idrissa Gueye already knows the perfectly. Indeed, (…) the striker has been hanging out with his new teammates for several months, since he came to complete his rehabilitation at the Frescaty training center. Victim of a broken leg last April, the neo-Messin is now fit and his arrival proves once again that the Génération Foot Academy and FC Metz continue to maintain close relations, and this since birth of the partnership established between the two entities in 2003.”

He scored a hat-trick at the U17 World Cup

Idrissa Gueye joins his compatriots Pape Sy, Sadibou Sané, Alpha Touré, Cheikh Sabaly, Papa Amadou Diallo, Malick Mbaye, Ibou Sané and Aboubacar Lô therefore. From the height of his 85 meter height, he had impressed at the last World Cup under-17s in Indonesia in 2023, scoring a hat-trick on the second group day (4-1 victory over Poland). The Cubs’ journey then ended in the round of 16 against the future finalist, (0-0, 5 tab 3).
