Update on the infirmary
Ibrahima Wadji, Thomas Monconduit and Ayman Aiki are out. Aïmen Moueffek will certainly not be traveling too, he was ill this week. (…) The last match was intense for Augustine Boakye who did a lot of sprints. We have controlled his workload this week, especially today, so that he can be in good shape for this match against Paris. (…) We must find the right balance between the workload and our need to progress by going further in our work. Ligue 1 McDonald’s requires more things, more speed, more intensity. You have to give a lot on the pitch to be at the level of certain teams. This carries a risk of injury, but we try to avoid them as much as possible.
After Reims
Against Reims, I remember our first 30 minutes. We were good, aggressive, able to recover balls quickly. We were at the level where we should be. If we are able to maintain that over an entire match, it will be a very good thing, because against Reims, we saw that we lost quality as the match progressed. We need consistency over 90 minutes.
Good attitudes
I was very happy with the performance of my players against Reims, because we only had a few days to work. I saw very good attitudes, an organization that fits the one we want to see and that we had worked on. We want to continue in this direction so that the team improves day by day, so that it gains confidence over the weeks.
-Confront the Parisian leader
Playing against Paris is obviously difficult. But we want to attack the match with this same intensity, this same style. We have a lot of respect for this opponent, but we are not afraid, we want to use this match to continue to develop our team. Paris plays high with intensity, technical and tactical quality of a very high level. We will suffer at times, of course, but it is a good match to continue this development.
Djylian N’Guessan and the Saint-Etienne team
Djylian (N’Guessan) is a great player, for whom football is very natural, like his touch on the ball and his finishing in front of goal. He’s a humble boy, but within six meters he’s mean (smiles). I like watching him play football, he gives me confidence. He’s a player that I really like! I am very happy to see young people from the training center coming to train with us. Everything shows that the center is working well and doing what is necessary to bring players into the first team. This is a good thing, because training has a role to play in the club’s project.
