Will OL keep the sword of Damocles over their heads or on the contrary be freed from a certain weight?

Sanctioned in November by the National Directorate of Management Control (DNCG) with a ban on recruitment this winter and a demotion as a precautionary measure at the end of the season, Olympique Lyonnais will turn things around this Friday. The legal commission of the French Federation (FFF) will examine the appeal filed by management just before the winter break.

OL, which received its official notification late, considers itself able to challenge the decisions of the DNCG by presenting reinforced financial elements. Among these, an injection of 100 million euros promised by Eagle Football, of which 80 million would have already been released between December and early January, in preparation for the hearing.
Lyon management could also highlight recent sales, potential sales to Botafogo, as well as a significant drop in its payroll. Other elements could also be taken into account: the recent announcement by Sportsbnak, an investment company, which has reached an agreement “with Eagle Football Holdings Limited for an investment in Eagle which will include a period of exclusivity.”

This operation, valued at nearly 240 million euros, is part of the preparation for Eagle’s initial public offering (IPO) in the United States. A strategic initiative to solidify the group’s finances and attract new partners.

At the same time, Eagle Football received a letter of intent from a Saudi group for the purchase of its shares in the English club Crystal Palace (45%). It remains to be seen whether this operation will be maintained, but it represents an additional advantage for John Textor.

So many arguments that OL hopes will be sufficient to convince the appeal committee and reduce the sanctions.
