The future of Nuno Mendes, firmly established within the PSG workforce since his arrival at the club in 2021, is no longer as clear as it had seemed in recent weeks. The Portuguese is reportedly in the process of leaving, a rumor which is gradually gaining momentum.
In a squad of stars with substantial salaries, Nuno Mendes is far from the standards of his teammates. The Portuguese’s salary at Paris Saint-Germain reaches 120,000 euros per month, and does not seem to suit the latter. If an extension of the player’s contract could allow a suitable salary increase, the Parisian left-back would not see things the same way.
According to TBR FootballNuno Mendes would have in fact asked the leaders of the Capital club to find him a way out towards Manchester United, who have been making eyes at the former Sporting CP player for several weeks now. The English media adds that, sure of his choice, the Parisian would have withdrawn from the contractual negotiations he had initiated with his current club.
If Nuno Mendes remains fixed in his position, it is a complex issue that Luis Campos and Paris Saint-Germain will have to manage. The 22-year-old’s contract will end in 2026, and the Parisian board would have every interest in releasing their player before this deadline, in order to get a substantial sum from it. In addition, it is never advisable to retain a player wishing to leave his club. Thus, the future of Nuno Mendes seems to be written day after day a little further from PSG.
