Girondins4Ever – Jean-Louis Lalanne is no more

As indicated by Sud Ouest, the former Girondins de player, Jean-Louis Lalannepassed away in his sleep at the age of 70. His funeral takes place this Wednesday, January 8 at 10:30 a.m., at the church of Pontonx-sur-l'Adour.

“Originally from Landes, Jean-Louis Lalanne, nicknamed Loule, started playing football in the small club of Pontonx-Thétieu. Noticed by the Girondins, he did an internship there then a tournament in Ghent with the juniors. He completed his military service before joining the ranks of the Girondins reserves in July 1973, at the age of 19. He had to wait until the 1975-1976 season for André Menaut to give him his chance in the First Division. He experienced physical problems which prevented him from making a series of starts, such as a fracture of a cheekbone during a preparation match against an English club (1 year off), an operation on the meniscus and then the ligaments…

The only season in which he could be considered a starter was the 1978-1979 season, during which Luis Carniglia lined him up 31 times, in all competitions. He continued to play for the first team. But after the dismissal of Carniglia, he was not really in the good books of Raymond Goethals, the new coach.

A serious injury kept him away from the field for many months in 1980. A young player, Jean-Christophe Thouvenel, took advantage of the opportunity to show up.

Returning to the field in February 1981, Jean-Louis Lalanne mainly spent time with the reserve team before leaving the Girondins in June and signing for , then a resident of D2.

At the end of his professional career, he returned to the Landes to JA then to AS Pontonx, his first club.
