In search of defensive reinforcements to solidify its rearguard, Stade Rennais is closely interested in Olympique de Marseille. After studying the possibility of recruiting Chancel Mbemba, the Breton club now seems to be focusing its efforts on another Marseille player: Bamo Meïté.
A complex file for Mbemba
Initially, Rennes had made inquiries about Chancel Mbemba, put on the shelf by OM since last summer and available for an amount of around three million euros. But the Rouge et Noir did not follow up, preferring to explore other avenues. The Congolese international, at the end of his contract next June, could therefore wait a little longer before knowing his fate.
Bamo Meïté, an attractive alternative
The priority now seems to turn to Bamo Meïté, 23-year-old Ivorian central defender. Arriving at OM from Lorient, Meïté failed to establish himself in Roberto De Zerbi's squad, accumulating only 24 minutes of play this season. Held back by an injury then by difficulties adapting to his coach's philosophy, he nevertheless represents a great opportunity for Rennes.
Montpellier in pole position
Despite Rennes' interest, Montpellier seems better placed in this matter. According to The Teamthe MHSC is pushing for a loan with a purchase option, while OM favors a direct sale. This situation could be resolved in the last days of the transfer window, leaving suspense hanging over the future of Bamo Meïté. Rennes will therefore have to act quickly if it wishes to strengthen its squad with this promising young talent.
Supporter of En Avant de Guingamp, the best of the Breton clubs, I prefer to meet Yannis Salibur, Cristophe Kerbrat or Jeremy Sorbon rather than Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi or Sergio Ramos.
