According to the Brazilian press, Luiz Henrique would like to leave the Botafogo club and join Olympique Lyonnais this winter.
Olympique Lyonnais could experience some movements within the squad of its first team during this winter transfer window. This new transfer window officially began on Wednesday January 1st. At OL, the rumors did not take long. Starting with the one concerning a certain Luiz Henrique. According to the Brazilian media Globo Esporte, the winger, now 23 years old, would have made the decision, instead of staying one more season with Botafogo, to (re)take the plunge, by signing, as soon as this winter, in favor of the Rhone club. It would then not be the first time that Henrique would find himself in Europe, after having had a first experience at Betis, in Spain, between the years 2022 and 2024. For this to possibly come to fruition, it will be necessary for John Textor, boss of Botafogo but also of OL, can find a solution.
OL is banned from recruiting
Because Lyon is currently hit by sanctions pronounced against it by the National Management Control Department. The DNCG even took the decision to temporarily demote the club to Ligue 2 and ban it from recruitment. However, there is indeed the possibility of seeing Luiz Henrique arrive in this transfer window, thanks to the fact that the two clubs concerned, Botafogo and OL, belong to the same group, Eagle Football. Still, if Olympique Lyonnais managed to secure his services, within the next few weeks, it would inevitably be a big blow. Indeed, Luiz Henrique is one of the fittest Brazilian players at the moment. Under the colors of this local Botafogo team, the main player has played a total of 51 matches this season, for a record of twelve goals scored but also six assists provided. A year also concluded with a historic double, namely the Copa Libertadores as well as the championship.
