After a hectic summer transfer window, Olympique de Marseille could once again make some adjustments to its squad during the winter transfer window. According to information from Provencethe Marseille club would have given the green light for the departures of Chancel Mbemba et Bamo Meïtétwo players who are struggling to establish themselves in the plans of Roberto DeZerbi.
Mbemba: a price to respect for his departure
Arriving in summer 2022, Chancel Mbemba has never managed to establish himself as an indisputable starter in the Marseille defense. Pushed towards the exit during the last summer transfer window, the 28-year-old Congolese defender could finally leave OM this winter. However, as pointed out Pablo Longoriathe Olympian president, “the club is very clear: the player has a price and if the price arrives, we would be happy to find a solution beneficial for the player and the club”. A transfer from Mbemba will therefore only take place if the financial conditions suit OM.
Meïté towards a loan to gain playing time
As for Bamo Meïtéthe 25-year-old Ivorian midfielder is also struggling to get significant playing time under Roberto De Zerbi. Despite this delicate situation, Provence indicates that OM does not wish to definitively separate from the former Lorient player. A ready would therefore be privileged to allow Meïté to regain playing time and relaunch his career, before a possible return to Marseille.
Departures to reduce the workforce
These two potential departures are part of OM's desire to reduce a squad that is still bloated despite the numerous movements made last summer. By parting ways with players like Mbemba and Meïté, who do not fit into De Zerbi's plans, the Marseille club could free up payroll and make room for possible recruits during this winter transfer window.
