As part of the 32nd final of the Coupe de France, Olympique Lyonnais face the team of Feignies-Aulnoyea club playing in National 2. For this meeting, the coach Pierre Sage decided to take tenure Remy Descampsthe team's backup goalkeeper. This decision is part of a “perspective of giving opportunities to all players”as the Lyon technician explained.
An experienced goalkeeper in the Coupe de France
Remy Descamps has solid experience in the Coupe de France, having played in this competition for the last two seasons with the FC Nantes. In 2023, Descamps even had to give up his place to Lafont in the semi-final against Lyon after being injured. Pierre Sage underlines the importance of maintaining the replacement goalkeeper “ready to play” when needed.
A rotation of the Lyon workforce
Beyond the tenure of Remy Descamps, Pierre Sage also mentioned other changes in the composition of his team. Duje Caleta-Carsuspended, will not participate in this last meeting of the calendar year. Nicolas Tagliafico et Nemanja Maticspared this week, will not make the trip to Hauts-de-France either. On the other hand, Georges Mikautadzeabsent Thursday due to illness, and Enzo Molebeexempted for personal reasons, will be “alignable” in the words of the Lyon coach.
A match not to be overlooked
Although favorites on paper against a National 2 team, Olympique Lyonnais does not seem to take this meeting lightly. Pierre Sage seems to want to give each player a chance while preserving a solid backbone, with a view to continuing the adventure in the Coupe de France.
