After seven years at PSG, Kylian Mbappé joined Real Madrid free of any contract. The two parties have been in dispute for several months. The striker's lawyer believes that PSG wants to escape football regulations by not paying the 55 million euros in bonuses and salaries not paid by the Rouge & Bleu.
At the end of the contract on June 30, 2024 with the PSG,
Kylian Mbappé had decided not to extend and to leave the capital club free to join Real Madrid. A choice that he had revealed to his president,
Nasser al-Khelaïfi last February, even if he had not explicitly given the name of his future club. A choice which had annoyed the Parisian president. Since then, the two men have been in conflict and the striker has contacted several football authorities to claim 55 million euros in bonuses and unpaid salaries from his former club. Several judgments have been rendered in favor of one side or the other, but the matter is not yet over.
« The PSG wants to escape football regulations«
In an interview given to The Team,
Delphine Verheydenthe lawyer of Kylian Mbappéscolded the PSGbelieving that the latter weakens an entire system by refusing to settle the French international. “ The PSG assigned the LFP before the judicial court of
Paris considering that it is not competent to oblige a club to respect the commitments it has made. To participate in a professional championship, the PSG accepts the regulations. But at the end of the story he says that the League and the Federation have no power over him as a club. We are in a case that is becoming much larger than just my client's case. It can bring down the whole system. Incidentally, the club is saying loud and clear to all the other clubs: “Stop paying your players, force them to go to the industrial tribunal”. But the industrial tribunal takes a year and a half to have a decision at first instance, two years on appeal and the same amount on cassation. They will all have finished their career before being paid. The PSG wants to escape the rules of football. He is willing to bring down the system rather than fulfill his obligations. If the authorities do not protect contracts and their regulations, we send a strong signal that says: “You can trample all the players”. (…) My goal is not to sanction the PSG. Otherwise, we would have gone to court a long time ago for image damage or moral harassment. I could have done procedures… Whatever you want Kylian Mbappéis to be paid what you owe. »

“Why didn’t the player file a complaint before the only court that can rule on this matter, the industrial tribunal? »
The sports daily contacted someone close to the matter on the side of
PSG after choosing the clan Mbappé
to refer the matter to the joint committee of the FFF
Friday. “ A question arises. After all this time, why didn't the player file a complaint before the only court that can rule on this matter, the industrial tribunal? Odd. Instead, we are going around in circles in forums that are not appropriate for this dispute, where the player is simply seeking to sanction his former club, without actually getting his money back, which is only possible in a specialized court in labor law with which, throughout 2024, he refused to file a complaint. And, at the same time as he tries to sanction the club, he gives interviews to say how much he loves the club. Curious.«
