The former AS Saint-Étienne striker, Vagner Diasfinds himself in a delicate situation after hitting striker Rafal Wolski, one of his teammates during training with his new Polish club, Radomiak Radom. This affair seems to mark a major turning point in the career of the Cape Verdean player.
A mixed spell at ASSE before a lucrative transfer
Arrived at AS Saint-Étienne in 2017, Vagner Dias never managed to fully establish himself in Ligue 1, playing mainly with the reserve team. However, his good performances during two loans at AS Nancy Lorraine, where he registered 14 butsallowed ASSE to sell it to FC Metz for around three million euros in 2020, thus taking advantage of its high rating at the time.
A delicate start to the season in Poland, followed by an altercation
After his transfer to Radomiak Radom this summer, Vagner Dias failed to be decisive in 10 matches in all competitions. But it was an incident during a training session that really cast a shadow over his future at the Polish club. According to local media, the former ASSE player “hit attacker Rafal Wolski” in the back for “an insignificant matter”even causing his teammate to faint.
A severe sanction to come for Vagner Dias
Following this violent incident, the Radomiak Radom dismissed Vagner Dias of the group and is now considering terminating his contract, which runs until June 2026. The club has contacted the competent authorities and seems determined to part ways with the Cape Verdean player, thus putting a premature end to its adventure in Poland.
