After 15 days of Ligue 1, the LFP revealed certain athletic statistics for the 18 teams. Concerning races and sprints, OL ranks more in the middle of the table.
Ligue 1 gives way to the Coupe de France this weekend. Before the two-week winter break, the French elite teams will compete in this competition, a final outing before the holidays for professional footballers. Taking advantage of the three-week break until the next day, the LFP shared two statistics on Thursday concerning the athletic data of L1 teams.
6th for the race, 10th for the sprints
These figures of course do not mean everything, but they allow us to know which teams are running the most since the start of the season. Lens dominates this data, with an average of 113.26 kilometers covered per match. It precedes its neighbor Lille (112.54 km) and PSG (112.5 km).
Olympique Lyonnais is a little further down in this ranking, being sixth. Corentin’s teammates Tolisso cover 110.37 kilometers per meeting. They are between Strasbourg (110.65 km) and Toulouse (110.35 km). Knowing that the average of the 18 clubs is 109.48 km.
OL 4th in possession of the ball
Concerning the sprints, we also find the Lensois in the lead (162.64 per poster), ahead of Monaco (153.27) and Strasbourg (148.27). In this area, OL are falling in the hierarchy, arriving tenth with 135 high-intensity races per game. It is therefore in the median compared to the competition.
But we must put all this in perspective with other statistics, for example that of holding the ball. With 54% possession after fifteen days, Pierre’s players Sage are part of the teams having the ball most often (fourth). Which may explain their place in these rankings.
