The Best ceremony organized by Fifa this Tuesday in Doha (Qatar) experienced many hiccups, even if Gianni Infantino praised the merits of this evening.
Gianni Infantino assured him during his introductory speech that The Best awards ceremony rewards “the best”. Except that the evening organized in Doha (Qatar) this Tuesday quickly turned into a flop. In front of an audience of guests, some of whom were more attentive to their phones than to the announcement of the winners, the atmosphere was far from resembling a football festival.
The two presenters continued with the announcement of the winners, the majority of whom did not appear on stage, except Carlo Ancelotti, elected coach of the year, and Vinicius Jr, crowned best player in the world. And for good reason: the Madrilenians are there since they play the final of the Intercontinental Cup on Wednesday in Doha against Pachuca.

Technical problems galore
The winners simply expressed their thanks through videos… when the technique worked. When the women’s eleven of the year was revealed, it was impossible to display all of the winners on screen. The problem was corrected for the announcement of the men’s eleven of the year, since the winners were broadcast in full screen. The winners of the Puskas and Marta prizes, rewarding the best goals (Garnacho and Marta), were even revealed – apparently by mistake – before the presentation of the nominees in the video clip.
Only broadcast on FIFA TV in France, without translation, the ceremony saw some big names in football pass by (Arsène Wenger, Gianluigi Buffon, Alessandro Del Piero) to present the awards. The ceremony was completed in one hour, top time, leaving a new mixed impression on its organization and its importance vis-à-vis the Ballon d’or, which it nevertheless wanted to compete with.
