Last summer, OM leaders carried out an XXL transfer window by changing almost the entire squad. After six months, a first assessment can be made and the Olympian leaders are very satisfied.
Second in Ligue 1 after 15 days, Olympique de Marseille has had an excellent start to the season for Roberto De Zerbi's first six months at the head of the Marseille club. Despite a few avoidable missteps at the Vélodrome against Angers or Auxerre, Mason Greenwood's teammates average two points per match. This excellent pace proves that Pablo Longoria and Medhi Benatia made no mistake last summer when rebuilding a team from the ground up. The transfer window was very hectic with more than ten arrivals, but the results are there. Beyond the ranking, it is the osmosis within the Olympian group which amazes the leaders of Olympique de Marseille, as one of them confided to La Provence.
Perfect alchemy in the group, OM is jubilant
“It’s a team that was built on the job and we feel a certain alchemy” rejoices an OM manager, reacting to the group's departure for Denmark for a 48-hour training course, before continuing. “This little stay between the players should create even stronger bonds” appreciates the Olympian board, which validated this request from Leonardo Balerdi, the captain of Olympique de Marseille having submitted to Roberto De Zerbi the idea of a new training course after that in Mallemot two weeks ago. Deprived of the European Cup, OM does not wish to fall into a routine and has therefore organized a second course, shorter than the first and more focused on non-football activities in order to maintain the dynamic and strengthen the spirit of band. Something is emerging from this group and for the Marseille leaders, it is undoubtedly a great victory whereas the numerous changes made during the transfer window could have had the opposite effect.
